Wow! I’ve been named Featured Artist for Metal Clay Today‘s Winter 2014 issue — and they were brave enough (or perhaps silly enough) to put my smilin’ mug on the magazine’s cover. The on-line issue is out today at www.metalclaytoday.com. I’m especially delighted because I’m the first person to be chosen who’s NOT a metal clay artist. The work shown spans my jewelry and metal clay photography, along with a little bit of my travel and critter work. There are even some shots of my wood carvings.
MCT is a superb resource for the metal clay community and is deserving of support. Founder and editor Tes Shea and her team work diligently to make the wide world of metal clay seem more like a village and family.
So, my thanks to Tes and to Arli Wolfson, who put this article together. I’m honored and really touched.
I’m saddened, however, because two good friends, Arli and Lori Phillips are leaving the magazine. I wish them much success and happiness. Since they’re both San Diegans, they’re not getting away that far or that easily…
Sharing the cover is amazing art by Barbara Whitehill (who created the octopus inside a naturalist’s cabinet) , Vanessa Backer (ceramic Tidepool bowls) and, of course, my way-better-half, Jonna Faulkner (with her Protector necklace).
The biggest reason why I love what I do? I’m constantly surrounded by gorgeous artwork and the creative people who make it happen.
