Winged Bear Photo Illustration

I’m in the process of posting my photos for sale on Etsy.  In doing so,  I’ve been going back literally through years of photo files.   Last night I found an image that I knew needed to be included here.

I’ve been a frequent visitor to the polar bear tank at the San Diego Zoo for many years.  I can watch these magnificent animals for hours.  It’s clichéd, but I’m still awed by the transformation that occurs when lumbering beasts on land turn into sleek, darting creatures in water.

This photo illustration started life as a snapshot with a ‘point and shoot’ camera.  For some inexplicable reason, I was able to get better underwater tank images from my little Canon Powershot than from my big Nikon DSLR.  Go figure.  The shot has been heavily “Photoshopped,” when I was over-the-top for painterly effects (don’t worry…that phase didn’t last long!)  But I always like the effect in this particular image.
