Golden Mirror in the Musée Carnavalet, Paris

Happy New Year!

Just saw Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris,” which was wonderful, a love poem to the city of light, and one of his sweetest and most positive movies ever.  It got me thinking about both Paris and the Belle Epoch era.

Musee Carnavalet Golden Mirror, Paris 2004. Photography by Steve Rossman

This shot was taken in a beautifully preserved room in the Musée Carnavalet in the Marais district of Paris.  Taken in 2004 with an old Nikon D7o camera and “walk around” (read: inexpensive yet versatile) Nikkor 55mm – 200mm lens, the shot was hand held in very low light.  I’m sorry to say that I don’t know the artist or the history of the piece.  Loved the room though!

Hope your new year is filled with beauty and adventures!
