Sunflower Ladies! And Two Sunflowers.

A few days ago, I posted a shot taken while Jonna Faulkner & Marcie Stone were teaching a workshop with Gwen Gibson at Gwen’s studio (Sacred image in Montolieu, France).  That post elicited a response from one of the workshop participants, Patricia Accorinti, a teacher and wonderful jewelry designer, who remembered a play day in a sunflower field near Dufort, Fance.

Towards the end of the workshop, I took four of the students out to photograph these glorious flowers (I swear that every sunflower in the south of France was in bloom).  This is one of my favorite shots, not just from the day, but from the entire trip.

Also posted are a few more sunflower shots from the day. The last image has been shown here before, but now you can see it in context.

p.s. Sunflower fields are DEEPLY furrowed.  That’s Selma Foreman, second from left, who was in her 90s at the time and trompin’ around like an explorer!   Pat is to the right of Selma.

Steve, these are simply magnificent photos! You certainly captured the raw beauty of the sunflowers and the happiness of the ladies amongst them! Let’s hear it for Selma!

  2. Yay! I love that picture of us. That was a wonderful workshop. And Selma was an inspiration. I want to be just like her when I grow up.
