Years ago, Jonna (Faulkner) and Marcie Stone taught in the south of France with Gwen Gibson at Gwen’s wonderful home & studio in Dufort. While the women were teaching, I was out and about in the countryside, visiting villages, listening to “the Lady and the Unicorn” as an audiobook, and shooting sunflower fields because every last sunflower in France was in bloom. Some of the photos from that trip have been posted in these pages.
From that trip to today, I’ve had a real fondness for sunflowers. So, when I started seeing them at Trader Joe’s a few days ago, I just couldn’t resist. I figured, if the photos didn’t turn out, at least the flowers would look great in the house.
Shot in my Escondido studio with a Nikon D300 Camera and Nikkor 85mm micro lens.

I want this picture hanging at my shop or my house!
Just beautiful your work is so beautiful!
Love, Kandra
Thanks Kandra! Unbeknownst to you, I was running a contest. The first person to comment gets a free print. Can’t think of it going to a better home!
Steve, you have deepened my appreciation for the sunflower! I so loved the photo you took in the sunflower fields of France and this is a sweet remembrance of the flower and your gift for photography!
Thanks Judith. Hope you are both well. s
