Maggie Taylor is an extraordinary photographer/photo illustrator. Just defining exactly what it is that she does is challenging. Best to call her an artist of great skill and talent, and leave it at that. A few years back, I took a Masters of PhotoShop class with her up in Berkeley, just to be in the same room and see how it is that she works her magic. Before I took this workshop, I told people that my knowledge of the program was “a mile wide and an inch deep.” Afterwards, I revised that to “four feet wide and 1/16th of an inch deep.” Still, it was a terrific and enlightening weekend!
For those of us lucky enough to live in the San Diego area (and for those who plan a visit this summer), Maggie has a show called Almost Alice that features work from her latest book of the same name, a wonderful re-illustration of Alice in Wonderland.
The show is at the William D. Cannon Art Gallery in Carlsbad and runs through September 9th. You’ll enjoy it! Click here to visit her beautiful website for more info.
